Kindergarten snacks

We have been talking about Kindergarten a great deal lately and what snacks Katie likes to eat. I realized that there is more involved then simply picking out the food and drink items...Do I send snack size ziploc bags, small containers (BPA free!), brown lunch bags or an actual lunch bag? What about those little snack bags of treats? What can she open by herself? They said a healthy snack...but she will not drink water UGGGH!

We went to target and bought a variety of snacks (cheezits, animal cookies, cereal, Annies gummies, and so much more). I try to eat mostly organic and am slowly switching Katie to healthier snacks. We have practiced opening small containers (BPA free) , ziploc bags and a few pre-packaged foods. I taught Katie the Pinch and Pull Technique for the packages that are tough to open).
I also decided to buy a package of 50 brown lunch bags to send the snacks in. I am determined to draw on them everyday (hearts or smiley faces). My dad did that when I was a kid!
As for the water I may just buy a small reusable water bottle and fill it with half water and half vitamn water...stay tuned!

Time for a Kindergarten backpack...

Katie is still pretty small for her age and only weighs about 31 pounds. When it was time to look for a backpack for school we headed straight out for the traditional Barbie or Dora bag. Katie was so excited to try hers on, she choose the Barbie one with the pink straps. We left Kmart and as soon as we got home she had to try it on. I got the camera ready and waited to see her excited expression. It was then I realized that my little peanut was too small for the traditional backpack, it hung below her knees and was much wider than her little body!

About us!

I am a Mom of a beautiful little girl named Katie. She was born 13 weeks early and weighed one pound 13 ounces. Katie is five now and heading to Kindergarten. She is our miracle and my amazing gift. She smiles the biggest smile and has the sweetest little voice you have ever heard! I have learned so much about preemies and have enjoyed every moment of her life so far. Since she is heading to Kindergarten soon I am feeling a slight twinge of sadness knowing that she won't be my baby anymore. I decided that I would like to share anything I can with new Moms, preemie Moms and anyone that loves kids. I have learned so much from other Moms that I am happy to share what I have learned.
